Student Visa for Australia

The hustle to apply for a student visa in Australia begins when students decide to study in Australia for their higher studies.

Here is a step by step guide to help students through the process.

The first and foremost step is that all students need to decide on a course, their preferred state, and the college/university they wish to get admitted into.

The second step of the visa procedure is to apply for admission to a preferred university. Applicants must understand that securing a place in Australian institutes is pretty competitive.

To be able to study in Australia students should have a subclass 500 (student visa). This visa lets international students study in Australia and work part-time.

Once studies start, students can work for up to 40 hours in a period of two weeks while they are taking the course.

Since a student visa is a temporary visa, it is only granted for a limited period of time. The time period is determined by the time span required by the course plus 2 extra months. If a student is unable to complete their course within their visa time they can apply for an extension. Other than applying for an extension in student visas, students are also free to apply for family visas Australia while they are studying in Australia.

Here are the degrees and certifications that all students must have before they apply for a Student Visa in Australia:

  • Primary and secondary schooling i.e Year 1 -12 certificates
  • Completion certificates from English Courses like ELICOS and General English
  • Certification and diploma in Vocational Courses like Automotive, Hospitality, Painting, Leadership, Business, or Bakery.
  • Some Higher Education courses like a Bachelorโ€™s Degree, a Master’s degree or PhD in Business, Accounting, Business, Information Technology, Nursing, and Social work.

Students can also include their families in their visa applications. Once the visa is granted their family will be allowed to accompany them in Australia while they complete the course. However, one important condition that students must follow while including their family is they must declare all family members. For example, if a student gets married after they apply for the visa they must update the visa department about all the changes in circumstances at their earliest. If someone fails to disclose their family then the visa department is free to refuse them visas.
